The Seminar on an Interdenominational Consultation on Christian Women Witness and Service was held on 26th of May 2018 at Jangpura, New Delhi. This seminar was organized by Diocese of Delhi Saint Michael and All Angels Church. 76 delegates were attended. Major Sita Patra, Captain Seema Vishwas and Captain Chuchumita Pradhan represented The Salvation Army. Seven churches were represented in the Seminar. Meeting had been started at 9.30 a.m. with the introduction session by Ms. Julliya Masih, President of WFCS and concluded by 2:30 p.m.
Main Theme of the Seminar was, “what is the role of women in the Society, Church or Family?”
Three issues were discussed in the Seminar.
1. Socio-Political Plight of Women and Christian Response by Mrs. Annie Raja from Methodist Church.
2. Plight of Tribal Women and Christian Response by Mrs. Irene Simon from St. Michael and All Angels Church.
3. Plight of Dalit Women and Christian Response by Sr. Robency, Project Coordinator from Catholic Church.
In this meeting everyone acknowledged that the women are facing a lot of problems and difficulties in their day-to-day lives. Among them some are afraid to handle the situations; some are stopped forcibly by the society and political leaders not to raise the voice. Tribal women are always pressed down with their poverty, illiteracy and many other facts of their fundamental rights. They were prevented from many things in their lives, which were able to change their whole society as well as individual life and the family and children. We all women have responsibilities in our churches and the woman need to be more courageous to speak out against all ill-treated matters which are happening among the women, so that they may wake up for their own and others improvement.
All the women representatives agreed that, it is important for us to go down in their level and do some special and extraordinary things which will bring some significant development in their life. We have to take the mind of Jesus who treated the prostitute woman to bring her up in the main stream of the society. In Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”.
By the end of the meeting all the delegates were made an oath to help other woman and encourage them to lead their lives with close relationship with Jesus Christ and help each others.
This meeting encouraged and empowered all the delegates to be practical in their Christian living in the society.
