CHENNAI — The Salvation Army India Central Territory hosted its first Workshop on Community Engagement from June 1–3, 2026, at the HRD Centre in Chennai. The three‑day programme brought together 40 delegates, including youth leaders, young officers from various divisions and districts, one representative from the CFOT in Nellore, and three delegates from THQ. The workshop was honoured by the presence of Commissioner Daniel Raju Dasari, Territorial Commander, and Lieutenant Colonel Gurnam Masih, Chief Secretary. A distinguished team of faculty members led the sessions, including Mrs. Helena Bernabas and Mr. Allwin Malhia from CIM Chennai; Mr. P. Bright Devenayakam, professional social worker; and from the ICT faculty, Lieutenant Colonel O. Philip Raju, SBA, Lieutenant Colonel M. Siluva Raju, SPR, and Mr. Jeevan Roy Pitta.

Workshop Objectives

  • To strengthen participants with a Biblical and Salvation Army foundation for community engagement.
  • To create a platform for sharing experiences, ideas, and best practices, enriching understanding for effective community development.
  • To equip delegates with skills in participatory planning and resource mobilisation for sustainable community initiatives.

The workshop marked an important step in empowering young leaders and officers to serve their communities with deeper insight, compassion, and strategic precision.
